Have a wandering spirit… or maybe a taste for adventure? Then check out the Adirondack Experience Program (AEP) schedule and experience a summer like never before! The AEP is an exciting wilderness outing program developed specifically for teens. Select from a variety of trips, with backpack or canoe, and venture into the splendid Adirondack Mountains.

Trips are led by experienced guides with training in safety, backcountry skills and first aid. Our trip leaders are knowledgeable and friendly. Group sizes are kept small, usually 6 or 8 participants, ensuring quality of instruction and positive group interaction. Much of the necessary gear is provided, i.e. backpacks, tents, stoves and cookware. A detailed packing list will be sent upon registration.

Week 1, July 1-6 Canoe Raquette River (Ages 12 and up)
Cost: $265.00
(per week per participant)
Great first time trip of campers. Participants will enjoy canoeing the Raquette River from Long Lake to Tupper Lake. Time will be spent meandering in side channels while mastering the fundamentals of canoeing. No previous canoeing experience necessary.
Week 2, July 8-13 Backpacking  in the High Peaks Region (Ages 13 and up)
Cost: $265.00
(per week per participant)

Cost: $300.00
(per week per participant)
4-H Camp Overlook is partnering with the wilderness recreation department of SUNY Potsdam to offer this exciting new outing. The first portion of the week will be spent at camp conducting an in-depth experience on our 18-elements low and high ropes course. Try everything our Adventure Course has to offer, from the Zip Line to the Flying Squirrel. Participants will then rendezvous with an instructor at the SUNY potsdam campus for a day of instruction on the college's indoor climbing wall. These skills will be put into practice the following day when campers move to the Azure Mountain for an exciting day of top rope climbing.
